Common problems we repair

Not making ice at all

No water in the trough, a tripped safety, a failed pump or a control board fault. We test the water side first because it fails most often.

Making less ice than it used to

Scale buildup on the evaporator, a dirty condenser or a low refrigerant charge slows every cycle and cuts daily output.

Cubes are small, cloudy or hollow

Usually a water supply or harvest problem: a clogged filter, a stuck inlet valve or a pump that is not moving enough water over the plate.

Stuck in harvest or freezing into one block

A harvest that never completes points to the hot gas valve, the thermistor or a control fault. The machine then freezes the next batch onto the last one.

Water leaking under or behind the machine

Cracked trough, loose drain line, a failed float valve or a blocked bin drain.

Ice smells or tastes off

Slime, mold or scale inside the machine. Cleaning and sanitizing usually fixes it, sometimes together with a new water filter.

An ice machine that stops in the middle of a lunch rush is not a small problem for a bar, a restaurant or a market with a bagged-ice program. Fix Time Appliance Repair repairs commercial ice machines on site, Monday through Saturday, across the Santa Clarita Valley, the San Fernando Valley, Burbank and Glendale.

We work on air-cooled and water-cooled cubers, flakers and nugget machines, from Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic and Follett to the smaller undercounter units behind a bar. Most calls come down to a handful of causes: scale and slime on the evaporator, a water inlet valve that does not open or close, a harvest cycle that never finishes, a failed pump, or a condenser so dirty that the machine overheats and shuts itself down.

Tell us the make and model when you call, and whether the machine is making any ice at all. That tells us what to bring.

How a service call works

  1. Call or send a request

Tell us the equipment, the symptom and the address. A photo of the data plate helps us bring the right part.

  2. On-site diagnosis

The technician comes to your business Monday through Saturday and checks the whole system, not only the part that looks broken.

  3. Price before the repair

You get the repair price after the diagnosis and approve it before any work starts.

  4. Repair and test

Common parts are on the truck; special-order parts get a lead time. We confirm the unit holds temperature or runs a full cycle before we leave.

Denis replaced a broken part within my LG refrigerator. He was amazing!! He arrived and immediately knew what the problem was. He had me send him a photo and model # the night before. He did his homework before arriving. His charges very fair for amount of work and had the replacement part with him. Very knowledgeable, cleaned up afterwards. I called him on Friday night. He was at my house at 9:00 am on Saturday. I will definitely be using him from now on!!

Thought I would have a quiet President's Day. Had to call Fix Time to repair the dryer. Best decision I could have made. Denis was outstanding. Not only did he diagnose and repair the dryer in a short amount of time. He then went above and beyond and checked out the other appliances. Can't thank him enough as there was a water leak in the refrigerator. Nice catch Denis. You are now our go-to person for any problem in the future.

My repair technician, Denis Shevtsov, was first rate. He arrived on time and was very thorough in ascertaining the problem with my gas stovetop range. Denis ordered the necessary parts right away and came back to repair the stove as soon as the parts were delivered. Denis was extremely polite and professional in explaining what he did and making sure the cooktop was working well once he finished the repair. Very grateful for the excellent service!

Excellent skill and service! Denis is reliable and honest. He took apart our 25 year old washing machine, found the problem, repaired it, and reassembled the machine quickly and skillfully! He made it look easy. I'd say he's a Master technician. We have had him out for three separate service calls and will always call him for repairs. His pricing is very fair. He returns texts / calls asap. He gets the job done right the first time!

Questions business owners ask

Do you repair Hoshizaki and Manitowoc ice machines?
Yes. Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic and Follett are the machines we see most. Give us the model number from the data plate when you call.
How long does an ice machine repair take?
Many repairs are done in one visit when the part is common: inlet valve, pump, fan motor, float. A control board or an evaporator plate may need to be ordered, and we tell you the lead time before you approve the repair.
The machine is running but the bin is empty. What is wrong?
That is the most common call. The machine is usually cycling without water, or the harvest never completes, so each batch fails. It needs a diagnosis, not another reset.
Can you clean and sanitize the machine?
Yes. Scale and slime are behind a large share of ice quality complaints, and a cleaned machine also makes more ice per day.
Will I get a price before the repair?
Yes. After the diagnosis you get the repair price and approve it before any work starts. The diagnostic visit itself is quoted when you call, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Which areas do you cover?
Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, Burbank and Glendale. Service calls run Monday through Saturday.

Ice machine down before the rush?

Send the model number and a photo. We will call back to schedule the visit.
